The Palestinean "Gaza Mon Amour" will open the Cairo International Film Festival's (CIFF) Red Carpet screenings tonight at 6 pm, at the Main Theater of Cairo Opera House.

The film revolves around Issa who is stoic and settled into bachelor living. In addition, he continues ignoring his sister’s requests to him to find a lover. However, he hides his feelings of love for Siham.

One night while out fishing within the limited radius Gazans are restricted to sailing under the Israeli occupation. Issa finds a strange statue of Apollo.

Issa takes the statue home. Ironically, part of the statue is broken off leading to a series of comic events that shed light on life under the occupation and, above all, on love.

Tonight's screening is the film's first one in the Middle East and North Africa. It participated in different international festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival.

The 42nd edition of CIIF kicked off yesterday at Cairo Opera House. This edition witnesses the participation of 84 films.

The opening ceremony carried out different tributes to English screenwriter Sir Christopher Hampton, Egyptian scriptwriter Wahid Hamed, and Egyptian Actress Mona Zaki.
