Gawhar Nabil Arrives at the Ministry of Sports to Officially Assume His Duties

Gawhar Nabil, the new Minister of Youth and Sports, arrived at the ministry headquarters to officially assume his duties after taking the constitutional oath, succeeding Ashraf Sobhi, the former minister.

The recent cabinet reshuffle revealed that Gawhar Nabil will assume the portfolio of Minister of Youth and Sports, succeeding Dr. Ashraf Sobhi.

- Gawhar Nabil was born on January 31, 1973, and is 53 years old. He is a retired handball player who represented Egypt at the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympics.

- Gawhar Nabil began his career at Al-Ahly Club in the youth teams. He then played for Zamalek for six months. Due to not being registered with the team, he returned to Al-Ahly and progressed through the ranks, winning numerous championships with the Red Devils.

At the national team level, he captained the Egyptian national handball team, winning the Youth World Championship with Egypt. He was also named African Player of the Year and the best player in his position worldwide.

Gawhar Nabil served on the board of directors of the Egyptian Handball Federation from 2008 to 2011 and was a member of the competitions committee of the Arab Handball Federation during the same period. He also headed the football department at Al Ahly Club in 2006 and 2007, before becoming a member of the club's board of directors in 2017. He received the Order of Sports, First Class, after winning the 1993 Youth World Championship.
