The government in Gambia announced today, Wednesday, that it had foiled a coup attempt against President Adama Barrow, while four soldiers were arrested for being involved in that attempt, according to Sputnik news agency.
Local media quoted a statement in which the government announced that, "Following intelligence reports indicating that a number of Gambian army soldiers are planning to overthrow the democratically elected government of President Adama Barrow, the armed forces carried out a military operation yesterday and arrested 4 soldiers involved in the coup attempt."
The statement added that investigations are underway with these soldiers, while the army is searching for 3 others involved in the coup attempt
