Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) welcomed the recently reached agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as a historic opportunity to prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and expressing readiness to support its implementation.

In a joint statement issued following their summit, G7 leaders endorsed the accord between Washington and Tehran and said they were prepared to contribute to efforts aimed at ensuring its success.

The leaders said the agreement offered a significant opportunity to address longstanding concerns over Iran's nuclear program and to enhance regional and international security.

They also stressed the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, saying maritime transit through the strategic waterway should remain unobstructed and free of additional charges.

On regional issues, the G7 called for an immediate and durable ceasefire in Lebanon and voiced support for efforts to ensure that weapons remain under the authority of the Lebanese state.

The leaders also reaffirmed their backing for Ukraine, agreeing to increase supplies of air defense capabilities, additional defense systems, interceptor aircraft and long-range capabilities to help Kyiv counter ongoing security threats.

The statement underscored the G7's commitment to supporting international security, safeguarding global trade routes and promoting diplomatic solutions to regional conflicts.
