French Foreign Minister (FM) Stéphane Séjourné will meet with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, in Rabat on Monday in an effort to improve relations between the two countries after a series of diplomatic crises.
A diplomatic source told AFP on Sunday that the meeting will include a "working lunch."
The same source confirmed that "this visit is a strong step towards opening a new chapter in the relationship between our two countries."
Séjourné, who arrives in Rabat on Sunday evening, had announced that President Emmanuel Macron asked him to make personal efforts to reconcile with Morocco.
France is keen to renew ties of trust with Morocco, and describes bilateral relations as "essential."
