French Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian will visit Egypt on Saturday, where he will meet with his counterpart Sameh Shoukry, according to French Ambassador to Egypt Stéphane Romatet.
French Minister will also meet Egyptian officials during his visit to Cairo to discuss boosting bilateral relations between Egypt and France.
Le Drian and his Egyptian counterpart will initially have a meeting on Sunday and will then hold consultations in an extended format with the participation of official delegations from the two sides and media.
According to an official statement issued on Friday by the French embassy in Egypt, the ambassador said: "The French minister will ink a deal with the Egyptian government to invest in research and innovation on green hydrogen: its production, storage, transport, distribution, and application.
"During the consultations, bilateral relations between Egypt and France will be reviewed, and also specific ways to further strengthen them will be examined," the statement added.
The ambassador pointed out that his country is looking forward to increasing and enhancing cooperation with Egypt. He also expressed his country’s interest in increasing cooperation with Egypt in the green energy sector.
"This will not be Le Drian’s first visit to Egypt, with talks expected to focus on bilateral strategic cooperation, in continuation of the signing of the agreement on matters of energy, transportation, and defense in the last months," the French embassy in Egypt said.
