French Foreign Minister (FM) Catherine Colonna announced on Wednesday that she has tested positive for COVID-19.
"I have tested positive for COVID-19. I will not be attending the cabinet meeting today as a precautionary measure," French FM said on 'X'.
On September 1, the French Public Health Authority announced that the first case of the new COVID-19 variant (BA.2.86), known as "Perla", had been detected in France, in the Haut-Rhin region in the northeast of the country.
Perla BA.2.86 is one of COVID-1's new variants, that have been announced recently, and it has been added to the list of variants under surveillance by the World Health Organization (WHO).
