On Tuesday, a French parliamentary delegation held a meeting with several Egyptian officials in Cairo for reviewing several topics including Grand Renaissance Ethiopian Dam (GRED) crisis.
The meeting saw the participation of Françoise Dumas, the president of the Committee of National Defence and Armed Forces of the French National Assembly, French Ambassador to Cairo Stéphane Romatet, Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs Hamdi Sanad Loza, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt for European Affairs Badr Abdel Aty, and others.
Various topics were examined such as the bilateral ties between both states, in addition to discussing several common-interest issues such as Libya, Syrian, Lebanon, African coast and Palestine.
French representatives praised the Egyptian efforts in obtaining the Gaza ceasefire, and the Egyptian initiative for Gaza reconstruction.
During the meeting, Loza overviewed the Egyptian situation regarding the GERD crisis that asserting the necessity of a political and legal agreement for filling and operating the Ethiopian dam without harming the Egyptian and Sudanese water rights.
