Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority received, Sunday, the French Ambassador to Cairo Eric Chevallier to discuss ways of joint cooperation, at the Guidance Building in Ismailia Governorate.
“Rabie” confirmed that the Suez Canal is implementing an ambitious strategy by adopting a package of projects based on the localization of the industry, including building various marine units in the authority’s arsenals and companies, and the development of new marine services to meet the requirements of passing ships, in addition to developing its yacht marinas in the three canal in cities to encourage tourism.
Rabie appreciated the French efforts to support the Suez Canal Museum with a group of collectibles through the Friends of de Lesseps Association, which represents a model of French-Egyptian cultural cooperation.
On his part, the French ambassador stressed his country's keenness to activate joint cooperation and coordination with the Suez Canal Authority, given the special importance that the canal represents as an essential link to serve the global trade movement between East and West, and a main pillar for strengthening Egyptian-French relations.
He expressed his hope that the situation in the Red Sea region would stabilize and that global supply chains would return to what they were before the tensions in the region, stressing the keenness of the French shipping line CMA CGM to continue transit through the Suez Canal.
Rabie accompanied the French ambassador on an inspection tour of a number of national projects, including the yacht marina in Ismailia, followed by a cruise in the new Suez Canal, then a visit to the Suez Canal Museum.
