France welcomed the Palestinian Authority's issuance of a decree setting November 28, 2026, as the official date for Palestinian legislative elections, alongside plans to hold presidential elections in early 2027.
In a statement released on Friday, France's Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs said the move fulfills commitments made by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to the French president.
The ministry called on all parties to ensure that the elections are conducted smoothly, enabling the Palestinian people to express their democratic will through the ballot box across the occupied Palestinian territories in accordance with international standards.
France also reaffirmed its readiness to work with international partners to provide all necessary support to ensure the elections are organized under the best possible conditions.
