French authorities have summoned Elon Musk for questioning in Paris as part of a judicial investigation into alleged violations linked to the social media platform X.
The hearing is scheduled for Monday following a probe launched in early 2025 after complaints from lawmakers over alleged algorithmic bias on the platform.
The Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office previously confirmed that Musk and former X chief executive Linda Yaccarino were called to appear as both legal and operational heads of the company during the period under investigation.
The case intensified after French authorities conducted a search of X’s offices in France, citing suspected regulatory breaches. Prosecutors said the questioning aims to allow executives to present their position and clarify any compliance measures.
X has strongly rejected the investigation, describing it as politically motivated and denying any wrongdoing. The company argued that the probe represents an attempt to exert pressure on its US-based leadership through its French operations.
The dispute has also drawn a response from the US Department of Justice, which expressed concern that the French investigation could conflict with US constitutional protections on free speech.
In addition to Musk and Yaccarino, several X employees have been summoned for questioning between April 20 and 24.
Regulatory reports indicate that the platform complied with only about 35 percent of content removal requests in France over the past year, adding further scrutiny to its moderation practices.
