France's Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian announced on Sunday that Paris would send its ambassador back to Ankara after a week, according to Sputnik news agency.

In press statements, Le Drian said that Turkey made the deliberate choice to exploit the beheading of the French teacher and Prophet Muhammad Cartoons, to launch a hateful and slanderous campaign against France.

Moreover, the French minister added that Turkey’s condemnation of the Nice stabbing attack at a church this week had been “different, clear, unambiguous, but that does not preclude clarifications from Ankara”.

“We asked our ambassador to return to Ankara tomorrow to follow up on this request for clarification and explanation with the Turkish authorities,” he continued.

It is worth mentioning that, France decided to recall its ambassador to Turkey for consultations following “unacceptable” remarks by the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who suggested Emmanuel Macron, his French counterpart needed mental health treatment.
