France has recorded the recovery of its first Ebola patient after a humanitarian doctor infected in the Democratic Republic of Congo was discharged from hospital, according to the French Health Ministry.
The patient returned to France on June 23 from the DRC, where a major Ebola outbreak is underway, and received close medical monitoring and treatment before making a full recovery.
Health authorities said the patient experienced only limited symptoms and was able to return home safely after being released from care.
A new Ebola outbreak was declared in the Democratic Republic of Congo on May 15. Government figures published on July 2 show the virus has caused at least 438 deaths among 1,406 confirmed cases.
