French President Emmanuel Macron and the First Lady visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex today, where they laid wreaths and observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the genocide.

This gesture by President Macron carries deep symbolic and political significance, reflecting France's commitment to the historical recognition of the Armenian Genocide—a sensitive issue in international relations.

This act serves to honor the memory of the victims and foster a culture of remembrance, which is a crucial element in efforts to prevent the recurrence of such tragedies. Diplomatically, this position demonstrates France’s continued support for the Armenian people and state, as well as their historical rights, even amidst the complexities of relationships with nations that hold different interpretations of these events.

The post by the Armenian National Committee of Egypt noted that the denial of this genocide by some states and supporting historians is not based on scientific dispute. Instead, it stems from the disregard for a vast amount of reliable testimonies and historical documents. Such denial overlooks the recognition by major power, including the United States, France, Russia, and Germany (a key ally of the Ottoman Empire at the time), as well as the stances of numerous parliaments, institutions, and international bodies.

By publicly standing before the memorial to honor the victims, despite the sensitivity of the file and potential reactions, President Macron sends a clear message to the world: facing history with courage is the essence of political responsibility.

In this context, denial is no longer seen as a mere difference of opinion, but rather a stance that lacks moral courage and contradicts the growing international recognition of this tragedy.
