French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot warned that the Gaza Strip has become a "death trap" and called on the Israeli government to "come to its senses" and facilitate the passage of humanitarian aid to the Strip, at a time when France remains "determined" to recognize Palestine as a state.
A day after France and other countries signed letters calling for an end to the military offensive and the entry of aid into Gaza, Barrot insisted that the situation in Gaza is "unsustainable," according to the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia.
He warned that Israel's decision to allow limited passage of trucks, which he attributed "primarily to domestic political reasons," is insufficient and considered Israel's conduct in its military campaign "a profound attack on human dignity and an absolute violation of all rules of international law."
