France has mobilised around 400 billion euros ($445 billion) in investments from French companies for projects across Africa, a French Foreign Ministry spokesperson said during the Africa-France summit in Nairobi.
Pascal Confavreux said the summit had drawn around 6,000 participants from the business community and political leadership, describing the gathering as a major platform for strengthening economic cooperation between France and African countries.
He said discussions focused on increasing investment flows, financing development projects and strengthening economic partnerships across the continent.
The second day of the summit is expected to bring together more than 30 heads of state and government, including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The Africa-France summit comes as global powers intensify competition for influence and investment opportunities across Africa, particularly in infrastructure, energy and digital sectors.
