French police foiled a suspected bombing attempt early Saturday outside a US bank in central Paris, arresting a man moments before he could detonate an improvised explosive device, according to sources familiar with the case.
The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. local time in the upscale 8th arrondissement, near the building of Bank of America and just a short distance from the Champs-Élysées.
Authorities said the suspect was apprehended shortly after placing a homemade explosive device composed of nearly five liters of a liquid believed to be fuel, along with an ignition mechanism.
No injuries were reported, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
