France has called for holding a NATO military exercise in Greenland and confirmed its readiness to take part, according to the French  Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

The move comes as European leaders voice growing concern over security challenges and coercive policies. European Council President said the European Union is fully prepared to defend itself and its member states against any form of coercion, underscoring the bloc’s commitment to collective security and deterrence.

Meanwhile, the President of the European Commission stressed that the future of Greenland must be determined solely by its people, reaffirming the EU’s position on respecting self-determination and international law.

The statements reflect heightened attention to Greenland’s strategic importance in the Arctic region, as NATO and European leaders continue to emphasize unity, defense readiness, and respect for sovereignty amid evolving geopolitical dynamics.
