France and the Reconstruction of the Failed Policy of Appeasement; A Serious Threat to European Security

The West's policy of appeasement toward the Velayat-e Faqih regime has been not only a repeated historical mistake but an all-out strategic catastrophe. Decades ago, Maryam Rajavi warned that this appeasement is exactly like Neville Chamberlain's policy toward Hitler and will ultimately lead to widespread war and bloodshed. This warning materialized exactly on the ground. The undeniable reality is that Western appeasement has turned the mullahs' regime from a viper into a dragon that now threatens not only the Middle East but all of Europe and global security. The mullahs' regime is historically and socially a backward regime and below human civilization that, for its survival in today's civilized world, has a vital need for war, terrorism, crisis-making, and destabilization of other countries. This regime has spent billions of dollars of the plundered wealth of the Iranian nation on building 37 underground missile cities so that, when necessary, it can close the Strait of Hormuz, hold the global economy hostage, and fire missiles at countries in the region and, if necessary, at Europe. Since October 7, 2023, the killings and executions inside Iran and the regime's chain of warmongering, from the 12-day war to direct missile attacks, have shown that this entity survives only through executions, instigating war, terrorism, tension, and bloodshed.

The proven and hundred-times experienced reality is that the main enemy of this regime is the Iranian people. All the exported terrorism, regional warmongering, and even the nuclear negotiations are a cover to suppress domestic uprisings and prevent overthrow by the people and the Iranian Resistance. More than 40,000 killed in recent uprisings, thousands of executions, and widespread arrests have been carried out precisely for this reason. By creating foreign crises, the regime tries to divert attention from deep domestic discontent and build legitimacy for the killing and suppression of the people. The West's appeasement policy not only failed to contain this regime but fueled it and increased its audacity to directly threaten Europe. Meanwhile, France is, unfortunately, reconstructing the same failed policy of appeasement. A prime example of this was the shameful ban on the peaceful gathering of 100,000 Iranians in Paris. The gathering, which had been coordinated with French authorities on April 20 and for which tens of thousands of people from various countries had set off toward Paris, was canceled just two days before it was to be held under the ridiculous pretexts of "bomb threats by SAVAK" and "disputes among Iranian groups." Boris Johnson called these justifications absolute nonsense and said France had cowardly surrendered to the Tehran regime. Christine Arrighi, a member of the French Parliament and one of the coordinators of this great demonstration, strongly protested against this. Dominique Attias, a prominent French lawyer, also called this decision a "shameful surrender." How is it possible that a country that recognized the Revolutionary Guards as a terrorist organization is now blocking the peaceful voice of the Iranian people against executions and for freedom?

Reza Pahlavi's project is also precisely part of this same game of the mullahs' regime to counter the democratic movement of the Iranian people outside of Iran. The regime's own officials have admitted that this project was designed to create a rift in the opposition and counter the real democratic alternative (the National Council of Resistance of Iran), and so far it has been very effective and has worked well for the survival of the mullahs. Reza Pahlavi's statements about direct contact with the IRGC and the Basij have revealed the depth of this scenario more than ever. This project not only does not help democracy, but is a cover to counter the organized resistance and the 120-year aspiration of the Iranian people to achieve a democratic, secular, and just republic.

Conclusion

What I must emphasize is that the reconstruction of the appeasement policy by French and Western statesmen directly threatens the security of Europe today. A regime that has madly fired its ballistic missiles at various countries in the region can easily direct the same threat toward Paris, Berlin, or London. Continuing appeasement only gives this dragon the opportunity to grow stronger and, in the near future, once again make Europe a victim of its crises and terrorism. The only way out of this deadlock is to end appeasement and provide genuine support for the democratic alternative for peace and freedom in Iran. Maryam Rajavi's 10-point plan, which guarantees the separation of religion and state, complete gender equality, a non-nuclear Iran, and a republic based on the people's vote, and is globally endorsed, is the only real alternative to this anti-human regime. Today, when the appeasement policy has failed and the nature of the mullahs' regime has been revealed more than ever, it is time for Western countries to choose: either repeat their past mistake and surrender and reconstruct appeasement in the face of the mullahs' octopus, or stand with the Iranian people and recognize the democratic resistance for peace and freedom to overthrow this regime and build a free and democratic Iran characterized by "Neither Shah, Nor Mullah", in unity and peace with other nations of the world.
