The French government announced that nearly 782,000 people protested across France on Monday on Labor Day, while the "CGT" union counted 2.3 million demonstrators against the "reform" of the pension system.

According to the French Interior Ministry, about 782,000 people protested across France today, Monday, on the occasion of Labor Day, in a new show of anger against President Emmanuel Macron's pension reform, including 112,000 in Paris.

The CGT union noted that it counted 2.3 million demonstrators across France, including 550,000 in the capital.

The turnout was significantly higher than on May 1 last year, but lower than the largest protests the country has seen against pension reform this year.
