Four people, including children, were injured on Sunday after a driver intentionally plowed his vehicle into a crowd of pedestrians and the storefront of a local grocery market in the mountain town of Truckee, California.

Local authorities confirmed that the incident occurred at the entrance of the store. While the impact caused significant alarm, police reported that the four victims sustained injuries that are currently not considered life-threatening.

Suspect in Custody The driver, identified as a 49-year-old man from Coalinga in the San Joaquin Valley, was apprehended at the scene. Investigators believe the act was a deliberate attack on both the pedestrians and the establishment.

The suspect has been booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility in Nevada City on several serious charges, including:

Assault with a deadly weapon

Felony vandalism

Violation of probation

Ongoing Investigation Nevada City, where the suspect is currently held, is approximately an hour’s drive from Truckee, situated across a 7,000-foot mountain pass. While the motive behind the intentional ramming remains under investigation, police are working to determine if there were any prior links between the suspect and the location.

The Truckee community remains on edge following the brazen daylight attack, but officials emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
