Four people were injured as a result of an explosion in a building in the Shimbashi business district in the center of the Japanese capital, Tokyo, according to the Associated Press, quoting local media.
According to the Japanese "Kyodo" news agency, the police are conducting an investigation at the site of the explosion, which also shattered windows and billowed smoke.
No information was available yet on the cause of the explosion. But state TV station NHK quoted eyewitnesses as saying that there was a smell of gas just before the explosion, according to Reuters.
