Two sources at a military hospital in Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, told Reuters that former President Omar al-Bashir was transferred from Kober Prison to the hospital before the outbreak of fierce fighting on April 15.

And the whereabouts of Al-Bashir became a matter of question after the former minister in his government, Ali Haroun, announced yesterday (Tuesday) that he had left prison with other former officials.

Bashir and Haroun are wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes committed in Darfur.

Haroun, who is also wanted by the ICC for genocide and crimes against humanity, said in a recorded speech to Sudanese television late yesterday that several officials in the Bashir regime had been released from prison.

He added, “We, as leaders of the National Salvation Revolution, remained in our prison in Cooper, under the crossfire of the ongoing battle, for nine days, sharing with the rest of the prison inmates and its jailers those exceptional security conditions.”

Haroun continued, “With the explosion of conditions inside the prison, all the inmates were forced out on Sunday, April 23rd, until it was empty.” of its inmates and jailers, and at the request of the remaining strength of the prisons unit, we moved to another location outside the prison.
