Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was reportedly killed Sunday in a joint strike carried out by Israel and the United States in Tehran, according to Iranian media reports.

The Iranian Labor News Agency (ILNA) said Ahmadinejad died after an attack targeted the Narmak district in eastern Tehran, where he was believed to reside. The strike was described as part of coordinated military action involving Israel and the US.

There has been no immediate high-level confirmation from Iranian authorities, and independent verification of the reports remains limited.

Ahmadinejad, who served as Iran’s president from 2005 to 2013, was a member of the Expediency Discernment Council, a key advisory body within Iran’s political system. He remained a prominent and often controversial political figure after leaving office.

On Saturday, media outlets affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported that three of Ahmadinejad’s bodyguards were killed in what they described as a US-Israeli strike. Security-focused outlet Mashregh News identified the deceased as Mehdi Mokhtari, Mostafa Azizi, and Hassan Masjedi, stating they were killed in an attack targeting the former president’s office in eastern Tehran.

The reported killing comes amid escalating military exchanges between Iran, Israel, and the US, raising concerns of broader regional instability.
