Mr. Charles Michel, a distinguished European and world statesman who served as President of the European Council from 2019 to 2024 and as Prime Minister of Belgium for five years. Let us extend our warmest welcome to Mr. Charles Michel.
Charles Michel said that **solidarity with the Iranian people is growing every day**, stressing that Iranians in the streets of Iran, in Ashraf 3, in Berlin, and across the world represent “the resistance of the 21st century” and carry the power to change their country. Speaking from the heart, he told them: **“You are not alone,”** noting that an increasing number of European and international voices are now standing with their demand for freedom and their right to choose their future and their leaders.
Underscoring a shift in Europe’s stance, he stated that the **European Union has designated the IRGC as a terrorist organization**, and that a rising number of European leaders believe the **days of the current regime are numbered**. He described this as a sign of greater awareness and a turning point, urging governments to reject the regime’s blackmail carried out through repression and hostage-taking. He emphasized that **appeasement does not work** and that silence amounts to complicity.
Michel also warned of a renewed attempt to **steal the Iranian people’s aspirations**, saying that the “son of the Shah,” backed by sponsors and significant resources, is trying to manufacture a false image of support through industrial AI bots and social media—an effort to hijack Iran’s future once again. He argued that being the son of a dictator should inspire **shame and humility**, not a bid to impose himself as ruler, and he recalled the torture and killings committed under the Shah’s dictatorship. He concluded that the genuine alternative lies in the **mobilization of the Iranian people and the organized resistance**, anchored in democracy, free and fair elections, and the ten-point plan as a bridge from tyranny to liberty.
