Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Dr. Badr Abdel Aty held a telephone conversation on Wednesday with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis.
The call addressed bilateral relations, as well as the situation in Gaza and Sudan, and other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdel-Aty emphasized the necessity of concerted regional and international efforts to ensure the consolidation of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement as well as the importance of moving forward with the implementation of all the agreement’s provisions.
He also stressed the importance of creating a political horizon that leads to the embodiment of the Palestinian state along the lines of June 4, 1967, in accordance with international references in response to the legitimate demands of the Palestinian people.
In this context, Abdel Aty stressed the importance of the recent Security Council resolution on Gaza, contributing to consolidating the ceasefire and ensuring security for the Palestinians.
The official also noted the necessity of supporting the international stability force in Gaza to carry out its responsibilities and tasks.
For his part, the Greek Foreign Minister praised Egypt's tireless efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace and enhance security and stability in the region.
The two ministers also discussed developments in Sudan, with Abdel Aty stressing the need for a ceasefire and creating the conditions for launching a comprehensive political process that preserves Sudan's unity, sovereignty, and stability.
He also voiced Egypt's condemnation of the horrific violations witnessed in El Fasher, calling for concerted regional and international efforts to support the Sudanese people and their national institutions.
On the bilateral relations level, the ministers highlighted the strength of the strategic relationship between Egypt and Greece, underlining their commitment to continue coordination on various issues of mutual interest, particularly in light of escalating regional and international challenges.
