Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty confirmed that Egypt's primary existential issue, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), was discussed at length during his talks with his Dutch counterpart. Abdel Aty emphasized that Ethiopia's unilateral actions have had significant negative repercussions for the two downstream countries.
During a press conference with his Dutch counterpart, Abdel Aty explained that these actions have led to the submergence of large areas of land in Sudan, as well as the Nile basin lands within Egypt, as a result of irresponsible and unilateral Ethiopian policies. This confirms the validity of the Egyptian position calling for full coordination and prior notification between the three countries before implementing any projects on the Nile River.
