Billionaires in the world lost nearly $ 2 trillion combined during 2022, and in the United States of America (USA) only the rich Americans lost $ 660 billion, which is the highest rate in any country according to Forbes magazine statistics, as stock prices fell, driven by increased interest rates, inflation and deteriorating economic conditions.
Among the American billionaires, Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla company and SpaceX, who recently added to his list the position of CEO of Twitter, lost the most, as his net worth decreased by about $ 115 billion.
In October, when Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion, he sold about $23 billion of Tesla stock to fund the acquisition, and has since admitted that the deal was an "obvious" overpayment. Recently, he confirmed his plans to step down as CEO of the social media platform once he finds a suitable replacement.
