India Records More Than 4K Coronavirus Deaths in Single Day

On Saturday, India recorded 4,197 Coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll in the country to 2,38,265.

 

Moreover, the virus-hit country reported 4,01,228 new COVID-19 cases on May 7. It has so far registered a total of 2,18,86,611 cases.

 

In just one week, about half of the new cases worldwide were detected in India, according to data from the World Health Organization.

As the number of Coronavirus cases in the country continue to rise to record levels, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is under pressure to impose a strict nationwide lockdown.
