Hours follwoing US revealed plans to deploy more troops in the Middle East amid mounting tensions, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani affirmed that his country is not seeking to wage war against any nation while withstanding, at the same time, the mounting U.S. pressure and emerge victorious.

Rouhani's remarks came after Iran announced it was breaking compliance with the nuclear deal with world powers and the Trump administration ordered 1,000 more troops to be deployed in the Middle East.

Rouhani said that the "entire Iranian nation is unanimous in confronting" U.S. pressures and that "the end of this battle will see victory of the Iranian nation."

The latest developments follow apparent attacks days ago on two oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz, which Washington has blamed Iran for. Tehran has denied being involved in the attacks.

World powers rush to call for calm, where China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi has warned the United States against opening a "Pandora's box" in the Middle East.  He called on both countries to avoid escalating the situation.

In Moscow, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov called upon the United States to drop "provocative plans to deploy more troops to the Middle East and to cease actions that looked like a conscious attempt to provoke war with Iran".
