Egypt, Jordan and Iraq foreign ministers (FMs) held on Sunday a tripartite meeting in Baghdad to tackle a number of key regional issues.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation among three countries, stressing the need to promote Arab joint action through signing new memorandums of understanding (MOUs) and various partnerships in political, security, energy, industry, trade and housing fields.

Concerning terrorism, the three ministers agreed on supporting Baghdad's efforts to eliminate remnants of terrorist organization Daesh, to create a secured and stable atmosphere for the return of all displaced citizens to their cities.

Moreover, the three officials reviewed the important regional and international issues of common interests, including the Palestinian issue, and latest developments in Syria, Yemen and Libya.

In addition, the FMs also agreed on holding periodic meetings, with the upcoming meeting set to be held in Jordan.

The tripartite meeting came to follow-up the implementation of the outcomes of the previous tripartite summit held in Cairo last March among Egypt president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Jordan King, Abdullah II, and Iraqi Prime Minister, Adil Abdul Mahdi.

The gathering came at a time when the Middle East region is witnessing increasing tensions between Iran and the United States.
