Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, held phone talks on Friday with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres to discuss the latest developments in Gaza Strip and Sudan.

At the outset of the call, UN Chief requested that his greetings and appreciation be conveyed to the President of the Republic, praising his role in supporting regional security and stability amidst highly complex regional crises and challenges.

Guterres also commended Egypt’s continuous efforts to promote international peace and security.

The discussion touched upon the evolving situation in the Gaza Strip and ongoing efforts to advance the implementation of the second phase of the U.S. President’s plan.

Moreover, Abdelatty emphasized the importance of transitioning to the next steps, including the deployment of an international stability force, supporting the National Committee for Gaza Management, reopening the Rafah crossing in both directions, and the total Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

These measures, he noted, are essential to consolidating stability and creating the conditions for life to return to normal in Gaza.

FM also stressed the necessity of completing the second-phase requirements and launching the early recovery track and reconstruction process according to a comprehensive approach based on the needs of the Strip’s population.

Furthermore, the call addressed the situation in Sudan. Minister Abdelatty underscored the importance of reaching a humanitarian truce and establishing safe humanitarian havens and corridors as a prelude to a comprehensive ceasefire.

He emphasized the necessity of launching an inclusive, Sudanese-owned political process.

Abdelatty also reiterated Egypt’s firm stance on respecting Sudan's sovereignty, preserving its unity and territorial integrity, and supporting its national institutions.
