While being in Washington, D.C., Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aty spoke with to Steve Witkoff, the U.S. President's Special Envoy to the Middle East, on Wednesday, ahead of Witkoff's departure to the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the call addressed efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip, and the release of a number of hostages and prisoners. They exchanged views on the joint efforts of the three guarantor parties - Egypt, the United States, and Qatar - to secure a ceasefire through intensified pressure.

Abdel-Aty also discussed Egypt's efforts to speed up the resumption of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program between the United States and Iran, and between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
