FM to Visit New York Tomorrow

Egypt’s Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry will fly to New York City tomorrow, Thursday to prepare for President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s forthcoming participation in the 74th session of the United Nation (UN) General Assembly, set to kick off next Tuesday, September 24.

It is expected that Egypt's participation in this year's general assembly session will reflect its key role within various UN organs, as well as its pivotal regional role towards all relevant issues, according to foreign Ministry official spokesman Ambassador Ahmed Hafez.

"During his visit, FM will hold a series of meetings with counterparts of various countries and UN officials," Hafez said. "They will discuss ways to boost bilateral ties and strategic cooperation as well as exchanging views regarding important issues of common interests."

Noteworthy, many topics tops the UN session agenda incluidng: Security and peace, climate change, human rights, sustainable development as well as many other branching items such as economic growth, the advancement of women, armed conflict, the Palestinian cause, atomic radiation, outer space, Africa’s development, humanitarian assistance efforts, justice, international law, disarmament, drug control, crime prevention and combating terrorism.

The session will also address all organizational, administrative and UN-related issues. During the session, each state will present its vision regarding the topics listed above. The participants will also share their views about international and regional issues.
