FM, Sudanese Counterpart Discuss Bilateral Ties, GERD

The Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, held talks on Wednesday with the Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs-Designate, Ali Al-Sadiq, on the sidelines of the 157th session of the Arab League’s Council at the ministerial level.

 

During the meeting, both ministers agreed to continue the ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and Sudan in all fields, within the framework of the unity of destiny and the eternal ties that link the peoples of the Nile Valley.

 

Moreover, they also expressed their keenness to continue the pace of periodic and intense consultation and coordination between the two brotherly countries on regional issues of common concern in facing the various challenges facing the region at present.

 

In addition, the Egyptian and Sudanese sides also underlined the importance of preserving the unity, integrity, and sovereignty of Sudan on its lands, emphasizing support for the ongoing efforts aimed at achieving sustainable stability in the country.

 

Regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), both ministers stressed the need to continue serious negotiations under the auspices of the presidency of the African Union (AU) to reach a binding legal agreement that achieves the interests of the three countries, calling on the Ethiopian side to actively engage in these negotiations as soon as possible.
