Dr. Badr Abdel Atty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, affirmed during a phone call Monday evening with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul that Egypt categorically rejects Israel's continued brutal aggression against the Gaza Strip.
The two ministers exchanged views on the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, as a result of the systematic starvation policies pursued by Israel.
The Foreign Minister reviewed Egypt's ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire and ensure unhindered access to humanitarian and relief aid, warning of the danger of Israeli escalation in the occupied West Bank, including illegal settlement expansion, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international law.
On another level, the two ministers discussed the Iranian nuclear issue, as the Foreign Minister affirmed Egypt's keenness to intensify its contacts to prepare the conditions for resuming negotiations between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency and to bring the views of the various concerned parties closer together, with the aim of reaching a sustainable settlement that takes into account the interests of all parties and contributes to reducing escalation.
