In an in-depth interview with Forbes, Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, spokesperson for Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, outlined the foundations of Egypt’s diplomatic strategy amid what he described as a global geopolitical reconfiguration.
He highlighted the country’s unwavering foreign policy doctrine, its approach to regional crises, and the increasing emphasis on economic and commercial diplomacy as a core pillar of Egypt’s external engagement.
Speaking on Egypt’s foreign policy and the evolving geopolitical landscape marked by prolonged regional instability, Khallaf stressed that Cairo’s diplomatic doctrine is rooted in consistent ethical and legal standards from which the state does not deviate.
He explained that Egypt’s foreign policy is multidimensional, with key priorities including an immediate ceasefire, ensuring the flow of life-saving humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza, and advancing a global diplomatic campaign aimed at rallying international support for the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Khallaf also referenced Egypt’s detailed, multi-stage plan for early recovery, rehabilitation, and reconstruction in Gaza. He underscored that Egypt’s long-term strategy for lasting peace is founded on a set of fixed principles: supporting state institutions, respecting national sovereignty, upholding international law, strengthening the rules-based international order, and empowering the nation-state.
“In every regional or international flashpoint, whether in Libya, Sudan, Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, or Ukraine, our policy fully aligns with these principles,” he said.
