In line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to provide full support to Lebanon, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Badr Abdel Atty, held a meeting on Wednesday in Beirut with Druze leader, Walid Jumblatt, during his visit to the Lebanese capital.
Tamim Khallaf, Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that Abdel Atty reaffirmed Egypt’s ongoing support for the Lebanese government and people in the face of the brutal Israeli aggression against Lebanon.
He highlighted Egypt’s relentless efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire and end the war on Lebanon, stressing the importance of full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 by all parties without selectivity, to ensure the end of attacks on Lebanese sovereignty and cease Israeli violations of Lebanese territory.
FM underscored Egypt’s firm rejection of any attempts to impose displacement on the residents of entire regions in Lebanon.
Moreover, he noted Egypt’s awareness of the significant humanitarian consequences of the war, especially for those displaced from the targeted areas, such as Beirut’s southern suburbs, the Beqaa Valley, and southern Lebanon. He emphasized that Egypt remains committed to sending relief and humanitarian aid to Lebanon via an airlift, with the fourth shipment delivered today, as a practical demonstration of Egypt's commitment to supporting Lebanon on both humanitarian and political levels.
Regarding the presidential vacancy, Abdel Atty stressed the necessity of avoiding exclusion or marginalization of any Lebanese component.
He also noted that Egypt is working to help Lebanese parties reduce polarization and enhance social unity, emphasizing the importance of electing a consensus president for Lebanon without external impositions.
