Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, received, on Wednesday, a phone call from Mr. Antonio Tajani, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The conversation focused on advancing bilateral relations between the two friendly nations and discussing the latest regional developments.
Abdelatty praised the distinguished ties between Egypt and Italy during the call, emphasizing a strong commitment to elevating all aspects of their bilateral cooperation. He expressed Egypt's desire to continue strengthening economic and investment relations while boosting trade exchange between the two countries.
Moreover, both ministers exchanged views on the rapid developments currently unfolding in the region.
In this regard, Abdelatty informed his Italian counterpart of Egypt's intensive efforts to reduce escalation in coordination with regional and international partners.
He also stressed the need to intensify support for the U.S.-Iranian negotiation path and the various endeavors aimed at reaching a political settlement.
Furthermore, Abdelatty highlighted the importance of adhering to the negotiation process to reach understandings that ensure a ceasefire, end the war, and alleviate regional tensions.
Regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, Abdelatty emphasized that regional escalation should not divert attention from implementing the second phase of the U.S. President’s plan. This includes the deployment of an international stability force, ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and beginning early recovery and reconstruction programs.
As for the situation in Lebanon, FM reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for Lebanese sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He also demanded a full Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese lands and the comprehensive, non-selective implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
For his part, the Italian FM commended Egypt’s constructive role in coordinating with partners to de-escalate the situation.
The two ministers agreed to maintain continuous coordination and consultation, affirming that diplomatic solutions remain the optimal choice for supporting security and stability in the region and the world.
