Dr. Badr Abdel Atty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, received a phone call from Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, on Wednesday, July 2.

The two ministers praised the distinguished relations between Egypt and Italy and affirmed their shared commitment to strengthening all aspects of bilateral relations and elevating them to broader horizons.

The ministers exchanged views on developments in the Middle East. Minister Abdel Aty briefed his Italian counterpart on Egypt's efforts to resume the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and release hostages and prisoners, in cooperation with Qatar and the United States.

He also highlighted Egypt's intention to host an international conference for reconstruction in Gaza immediately after a ceasefire agreement is reached.

Abdel Atty also stressed that Israel and Iran must commit to the ceasefire, pointing out that the regional and international efforts should consolidate to reduce escalation and open the way for the diplomatic track.
