Foreign Minister (FM) and Minister of Emigration, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, held telephone conversations with Badr Al-Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman; Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of Iran; as well as Steve Whitkoff, U.S. President’s Special Envoy to the Middle East.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khalaf, stated that Abdelatty discussed the latest regional developments, particularly the negotiations held on Saturday between the United States and Iran in Muscat.
FM was also briefed on the progress of the talks and praised Oman’s constructive and vital role in facilitating the mediation process.
He reiterated Egypt’s full support for all efforts aimed at achieving political solutions through dialogue and negotiation, emphasizing the importance of fostering security and stability in the region.
During the calls, Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the cooperative approach demonstrated by both the American and Iranian sides.
He highlighted the importance of prioritizing dialogue and negotiation as a means to reach mutual understanding and compromise, which would contribute to de-escalation and easing tensions across the region.
FM also expressed hope that the ongoing negotiations would mark the beginning of a new phase that supports regional calm, and emphasized Egypt’s eagerness to see a swift and sustainable ceasefire established in the Gaza Strip.
