FM, EU High Representative Discuss Regional De-escalation Over Phone

​On Sunday, a phone call was held between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, and Ms. Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, as part of regular consultations to discuss regional developments.

Tamim Khallaf, Foreign Ministry official spokesperson, stated that the call included an exchange of views on the progress of the U.S.–Iran negotiations and the ongoing developments in the region. 

Abdelatty briefed the European official on the latest relentless efforts exerted by Egypt to achieve calm and de-escalate tensions, in coordination with regional partners. 

He also emphasized the vital importance of adhering to the diplomatic track and prioritizing dialogue to ensure the security and stability of the region's countries and peoples, as well as to guarantee the freedom of international navigation.

​For her part, the European official praised Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting regional de-escalation efforts, expressing her keenness to maintain coordination and consultation during the upcoming period within the framework of the close relations between Egypt and the European Union.
