A telephone call took place between Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, on Monday, within the framework of ongoing consultation and coordination between the two countries regarding ways to support bilateral relations, and to discuss a number of regional issues of common interest.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Minister Abdel-Atty affirmed during the call the depth of the relations between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, and the close cooperation and continuous coordination that they witness at various levels, stressing the shared keenness to continue building on the existing positive momentum, and to enhance areas of bilateral cooperation, in a way that achieves the common interests of the two brotherly peoples.
The call addressed developments in the Palestinian issue, particularly the current catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and the efforts to implement President Trump's peace plan.
The call also addressed developments in Sudan and the importance of continued coordination within the framework of the Quartet mechanism, with the aim of achieving a humanitarian truce, establishing safe havens and humanitarian corridors, and ultimately reaching a comprehensive ceasefire.
The call addressed developments in Yemen, emphasizing the importance of supporting de-escalation and the Yemeni national dialogue. Minister Abdel-Atty stressed the importance of reaching a comprehensive political settlement to the crisis in Yemen through an inclusive Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue.
At the end of the call, the two ministers agreed on the importance of continuing close coordination and consultation during the next stage regarding various regional and international issues, in order to strengthen joint Arab action and contribute to achieving stability in the region.
