Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said on Monday that Egypt will not cooperate with Turkey on the political settlement in Libya.

In a statement to the Russian News Agency TASS, Shoukry added that there are parties that support extremism and its gangs, and work to transfer foreign militants and terrorists from Syria to Libya.

Shoukry pointed out that Egypt will continue to work on the Libyan file with countries that have visions close to the Egyptian one. He stressed that Turkey is not among these countries.

Shoukry called on the international community to work on correcting mistakes in Libya. He noted that Egypt calls for a solution to the Libyan crisis through a Libyan dialogue.

The foreign minister added that Cairo is coordinating with Russia, the US, Europe, and the Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Stephanie Williams.

He stressed Egypt's opposition to any military intervention in Libya, saying that there were no justifications for the attempts of some countries outside the region to intervene in Libya.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 18000 Syrian mercenaries have been thrown into the Libyan battlefields, including about 350 children under the age of 18 years.
