Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced that Egypt is hosting more than 9.5 million refugees, providing them with comprehensive services equivalent to those offered to Egyptian citizens.
Speaking during a special interview with journalist Ahmed Abu Zeid on the "Cairo News" program, the minister highlighted that this significant number poses a major challenge for Egypt. However, the country is addressing this challenge with great responsibility and humanity.
He emphasized that Egypt has not established refugee camps but has instead integrated refugees into Egyptian society, reflecting its commitment to humanitarian values.
Dr. Abdel-Aty explained that Egypt offers refugees access to education, healthcare, and housing services while working to create job opportunities for them, despite the considerable strain this places on the country’s limited resources.
The minister called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in addressing the humanitarian crisis in the region and to provide the necessary support to Egypt and other host countries to alleviate the burdens they face.
He reaffirmed Egypt's ongoing efforts to support and integrate refugees, stressing the need for global cooperation to tackle the humanitarian challenges affecting the region.
