FM, Djibouti Counterpart Hold Talks in Riyadh

Badr Abdel Atty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, met with Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the sidelines of the preparatory ministerial meeting for the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Abdel Atty emphasized Egypt’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation with Djibouti in all areas, aligning with the historical ties and close connections between the two countries.

He also highlighted the importance of intensifying joint efforts to promote economic and political cooperation, in light of the remarkable progress in Egypt-Djibouti relations in recent years. He also referenced a phone call between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh on October 30, 2024, underscoring the strong alignment and ongoing communication between the two leaders at all levels.

Moreover, the two ministers agreed to further strengthen and deepen fraternal relations, particularly in the economic, trade, and logistics sectors, and to promote stronger ties between the private sectors in both countries.

The meeting also included discussions on the latest regional developments, especially in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region.

Both ministers agreed on the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and to ensure the freedom of international navigation.

Additionally, the ministers agreed on the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination between their countries within regional organizations, particularly the African Union and the Arab League.
