Two phone calls took place, on Wednesday, between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, and both Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The two calls addressed the ongoing coordination regarding the rapid developments witnessed by the region, as well as joint efforts to contain the current state of tension and de-escalate the situation.
During both calls, Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the stance of US President Donald Trump in giving dialogue and diplomacy a chance to settle disputes and protect the region from the risks of sliding into wider confrontations.
FM also emphasized the utmost importance of continuing the US-Iranian negotiation track until a balanced agreement is reached that achieves the interests of all parties.
At the same time, he stressed that any agreement must take into account the security concerns of the countries in the region, foremost among which is the security and stability of the sisterly Arab Gulf states, as this constitutes a fundamental pillar of Egyptian and Arab national security.
Mpreover, Abdelatty reaffirmed the importance of relying entirely on the diplomatic option to resolve disputes in a manner that preserves the capabilities and future of the region's peoples.
