Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, received American journalist Fareed Zakaria, host of CNN’s weekly flagship program GPS.
During the meeting, Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's tireless efforts to bolster regional security and stability.
He emphasized that Egypt’s foreign policy remains rooted in prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions, de-escalating tensions, and addressing the root causes of crises.
In this context, the Foreign Minister detailed Egypt’s role in solidifying the ceasefire in Gaza and transitioning to the second phase of President Donald Trump’s peace plan, alongside early recovery and reconstruction initiatives.
On the domestic front, FM briefed Zakaria on the Egyptian state’s comprehensive economic reforms.
He showcased efforts toImprove the investment climate, empower the private sector, and attract foreign direct investment (FDI) and strengthen economic partnerships.
He further noted the numerous developmental projects launched across various sectors over the past decade, which have significantly enhanced Egypt’s economic landscape despite the volatile regional environment.
The meeting included an extensive review of critical regional and global dossiers, including the evolving situations in Iran, Syria, Sudan, and the Horn of Africa.
The discussions also touched upon the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and the Ukrainian crisis, focusing on their direct implications for international stability.
