Egypt's Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry will receive on Sunday his Austrian counterpart, Alexander Schallenberg at the ministry headquarters in Cairo.

It is scheduled that both ministers will tackle ways to boost bilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as important regional and international issues of common interest.

Moreover, Shoukry and his Austrian counrepart will hold joint press conference following their official talks.

Egyptian-Austrian Relations

The Egyptian-Austrian relations are historically distinguished, due to Austria's traditional role as a neutral country during the Cold War, as well as the special relationship between former Austrian Chancellor Kreisky and the late President Anwar Sadat and his contribution to launching the peace process.

The economic and trade relations between Egypt and Austria are governed by a number of agreements covering all fields, foremost of which:

-The Egyptian-European Partnership Agreement

-The Agreement for Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Evasion of Taxes Imposed on Income and Capital gains

-The Agreement for the Promotion and Protection of Investments

-The Agricultural Cooperation Protocol

-The Agreement between the Austrian Economic Chamber and Egyptian Businessmen's Association regarding the establishment of a joint Egyptian-Austrian businessmen council

- An agreement between the governments of Egypt and Austria regarding economic, technical, industrial and technological cooperation

Based on the agreement on economic, industrial, technical and technological cooperation that was signed in Cairo on 12/9/1996, the Joint Committee for Economic and Technical Cooperation was established.
