Venezuelan Interior and Justice Minister Remigio Ceballos said that about 26,000 families have been affected so far by the heavy rains that have swept Venezuela over the past two months.

The Venezuelan authorities have set up 33 permanent shelters to provide the necessary care to people who need them, and 900 tons of supplies have been distributed to affected communities in 14 out of 23 states in the country, the Argentine newspaper "Infobay" indicated.

The rains also caused flooding in some roads, in addition to the fall of an electric tower in the state of Trujillo, affecting the service in some areas.
